Bio/Description

Hello, my name is Melinda Bowman, and I have been a part of the UNOW family since January 2020. From the moment I crossed over the threshold into UNOW, I knew this was my new home. I have been in the Early Childhood Education field for over 30 years and have worked with a wide range of ages from six weeks to five years old. However, my passion has always been infants and toddlers.

I am a native of Los Angeles, California, but New Jersey has been my permanent home since May 2008. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Wilmington University, and I am currently in the Childhood Studies Master’s program at Rutgers Camden. Before leaving California, I was the Infant Head Teacher at Mattel Child Development center, a NAEYC-accredited childcare center in El Segundo, CA.

I fell in love with teaching because I enjoy the connections I have made over the years with children and their families. I am a strong advocate for play-based curriculum and believe it’s the best way for children to learn and tap into their creativity and learn how to value who they are as individuals
