Program Services Provided

UNOW serves children ages 3 months to 5 years old with full day child care, catering to the development needs and interests of each child. Family involvement is welcome and encouraged but not required for children to attend UNOW.  Family events and program participation is available on a volunteer basis.

Full-day

UNOW is designed for children attending a full day.  Children typically arrive between 8:00 am and 9:30 am each morning.  During the day there are a variety of activities attending to each child’s developmental needs and interests.  Full-day, care needs are provided such as morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. Each child is offered at least one hour of rest or nap period each day depending on the needs and ages of the children. Attached to the exterior of the building are three separate age appropriate playgrounds, infant, toddler and preschool playgrounds. They go outside at least twice per day as weather permits. Generally parents pick up their child between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm.

Full-week, Monday through Friday

Each child attends the same classroom a full week, Monday through Friday, throughout the program session.  Children who spend their days with the same group of children from day to day form special bonds with both their teachers and their peer groups.  Emphasis is placed on building community within classrooms and throughout the program.

Program Sessions Offered

Families must sign up for the Academic year which is a minimum of 10 months each year.

Academic Year — full-day, full-week (M-F) child care over a period from mid-August and through May of the following year.

Summer Sessions are a continuation of our academic program year and usually lasts over an 8 week period from beginning of June to end of July of each year.  Summer session activities and care are the same as any other part of the year except children spend an extended time in the outdoor play areas and activities are geared toward summer interests and outdoor exploration. Signing up for one or both summer sessions is completely optional.
